In a perfect world every academic major would translate into a specific career. Accounting majors would become accountants. Journalism majors would become journalists. Biology majors would become biologists. The reality, however, is very different. Few people end up pursuing a career that is directly related to their college major, at least at the undergraduate level. In today's economy, learning about the many possible career fields related to your major is the key to your future success.
Is it true that certain majors lead to high paying careers better than other majors? Yes, of course. Anyone suggesting that choice of major isn't related to income isn't telling the whole story. But, choosing your major is something that goes well beyond just picking the major that will make you the most money. Otherwise, we'd all be chemical engineering or pharmacy majors and we're not all cut out for that path (although some of you may be!).
